WHAT BIKE DO I NEED?
The bike rides are on way marked, forest gravel tracks. Any bike with 35mm tyres or above will be suitable. If you need to hire a bike, give our friends at New Forest Cycling a call on 01425 403584 and say you’re coming for the Forest Folklore Weekend for a 20 percent discount.
I’M A MAN, CAN I COME?
Absolutely, we’d love you to join us. This gathering is significantly different to what is the norm for bike events and we know men folk have the most to gain from being in our space.
We encourage you to join us, in the bosom of the matriarchy and connect with the Forest and yourself.
I NEED SOMEWHERE I CAN WORK FROM ON THE FRIDAY BEFORE THE WEEKEND STARTS, WHERE CAN I GO?
The Burley Inn has very fast wifi and is a 4 minute cycle from the YHA. On a weekday, you’ll find plenty of space to work and a great menu too. Lorraine and her team will be pleased to see you.
I DON’T WANT TO SHARE A DORM, ARE THERE ANY OTHER OPTIONS?
For a £50 supplement, you can get your own pod which sleeps 3. All bedding is supplied and you’ll have the space entirely to yourself.
I’VE NEVER RIDDEN OFF ROAD BEFORE, IS THIS A GOOD INTRODUCTION?
We can’t think of a better one. We’ll have all day to ride 30 miles around the Forest, stopping frequently to marvel at Forest delights. The Forest is notoriously flat and the gravel tracks we’ll be cycling are wide and easy to navigate.
If you usually ride road and wanna see if gravel is for you, this will be the perfect introduction.
I WILL BE COMING ALONE, IS THAT OK?
Absolutely. We’ve designed the entire weekend to enable connection. Connection to the Forest, others and self.

AT SOME POINT DURING THE GATHERING, I’LL NEED TO SPEND SOME TIME BY MYSELF TO RE ENERGISE, WILL THERE BE SOMEWHERE I CAN GO?
Should you need your own space at any time, the YHA grounds are large and there are benches in discreet places should you want some where to sit quietly. Within a 5 minute walk in any direction, you can find solitude and peace in your company, although ponies might come and say hi.
